Youth Experience

Coastal Winds Adult Community Band is proud to announce our inaugural Coastal Winds Youth Experience! This will be an audition based honor band consisting of students across South Mississippi and surrounding areas. Students will get an opportunity to learn from talented educators in a mass ensemble in addition to individualized instruction in a sectional and masterclass setting from a dedicated professional on their particular instrument. We are asking you to share this information with your students and any one interested in this ensemble.

When?

Rehearsal Date April 5, 2025 1pm - 8pm
Concert Date May 4, 2025 TBA

Where?

Gulfport High School

Who is Eligible?

Any student from grade 8-12 who is in good standing with their director, even homeschool band students!

Fee?

$30 (due upon acceptance to ensemble)
Includes T-Shirt and meals

Audition Requirements?

Auditions will be submitted via unlisted YouTube video, due by March 3, 2025 (detailed instructions to follow)
Two major scales (one of your choice, and one picked for you)

One excerpt from a wind band piece.
**Students who are interested in a principal chair placement also have the option to prepare an excerpt picked from a standard solo on their instrument.
Percussion: there are three options to choose from (keyboard, snare and timpani). Students may audition up to all three if desired, they will need to fill out the form for each instrument they wish to audition for.
