Youth Experience

Coastal Winds Adult Community Band is proud to announce the 2nd annual Coastal Winds Youth Experience! This is an audition based honor band consisting of students across South Mississippi and surrounding areas. Students will get an opportunity to learn from talented educators in a mass ensemble in addition to individualized instruction in a sectional setting with members of the Coastal Winds! The final concert will be performed in conjunction with the Coastal Winds. We are asking you to share this information with your students and any one interested in this ensemble.

When?

Rehearsal Date: April 25, 2026 9am - 5pm
Concert Date: April 26, 2026 TBA

Where?

Gulfport High School

Who is Eligible?

Any student from grade 8-12 who is in good standing with their director, even homeschool band students!

Fee?

$40 (due upon acceptance to ensemble)
Includes T-Shirt and meals

Audition Requirements?

Auditions will be submitted via unlisted YouTube video, due by March 29, 2026 (detailed instructions to follow)
Two major scales (one of your choice, and one picked for you)
Chromatic Scale
One provided excerpt
Percussion will audition on both share and keyboard.

Please share the linked form to any interested band student. Once we receive their submissions, we will email a link to the audition material and instructions on how to upload their videos. Audition material will be sent out no earlier than March 1, 2026.
